Sisters Uncut: Valentine's Day Revolt

Yesterday in Central London, a group of inspiring women led a Valentine's Revolt to raise awareness of the deep concerns over the impact of austerity on women - particularly those suffering from domestic violence.

Sisters Uncut are a group of women from the direct action group UK Uncut, who plan to organise a range of occupations, sit ins, civil disobedience, road blocks etc in the lead up to the general election to show that women's voices must be heard. Marginalising those who are already vulnerable and in urgent need of support by cutting the funding of vital services is wrong.

I wasn't there yesterday because of uni work, but I showed my solidarity with the revolt through my nails:

(Excuse my god-awful neglected cuticles ugh)
Here's some pictures of yesterday (taken from https://www.facebook.com/sistersuncut)

Flowers and black roses for every woman who has died as a result of domestic violence this year

The names of the 118 women who have died at the hands of a violent partner being read out

Lots of great placards!

My favourite one. Look how long that solidarity stretches outtt

More great placards

A wonderful panoramic shot of the movement
I wasn't even there and I feel so inspired and energised looking at these pictures. I can't wait to see how Sisters Uncut develops over the next few months!

I'll end this with a pertinent line from All Talk, one of the fiercest songs from Girl Talk by the wonder woman Kate Nash: "Action, action, words are only in my mouth"
